About Us

Mission Statement

The Western Springs Historical Society is a volunteer non-profit organization that strives to instill an appreciation of the past and promotes the preservation of the cultural, economic and aesthetic heritage of Western Springs

In 1967 The Western Springs Historical Society was organized for the purpose of displaying and preserving the material evidence of the lifestyles of settled families in the area. Forty years later, the WSHS serves the Western Springs resident's through our growing museum collections, partnering with schools and libraries to develop educational programs, continuing the work and growth of the WS archival depository and promoting preservation through our annual House Preservation Awards.

The WSHS is a volunteer organization and is supported through the generous donations of Western Springs Historical Society's members, community sponsored events and educational granting. We are one of the few local Historical Society's that is not partially funded by public monies. If you would like to become a member, please click here.

If you love history or just Western Springs, please think about volunteering. There are many ways to volunteer. We are always eager to hear from our members and users and are committed to continually updating our website and services.
