Mission Statement

The Western Springs Historical Society is a volunteer non-profit organization that strives to instill an appreciation of the past and promotes the preservation of the cultural, economic and aesthetic heritage of Western Springs

The Ekdahl House has moved!

The move happened as scheduled on Sunday May 18th. Work continues to place it on it's new foundation and begin the restoration of the building. You can watch the move in this video on our Western Springs History Channel on Youtube. You can also watch other videos about the Ekdahl House and other aspects of Western Springs History. Buy-A-Brick to support our efforts!

Are you interested in Preservation? If so, check out the WS Preservation Award Winner’s album and the Western Springs architectural style section. Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2008 Preservation Awards. You can also download the Walking Tour Map to make your neighborhood walks a little more interesting.

Do you have a family reunion coming up? The Genealogy section can help you begin creating your own family’s genealogy. You’ll find tips on how to get started and a printable ancestry chart. You can also get your children involved by printing out the How to interview your parents or grandparents questionnaire. A fun family activity!

Is there an interesting or humorous story that you like to tell about our town?  Check out the Share Your Memories section, and let the community share your story. Or if you have a question about the village’s history, please contact us and we will try our hardest to track it down. Don’t miss the Don Kennedy memoir!

Recently, we received a unique donation from a local artist, our new Water Tower logo. This was created and donated by Martin Voelker. To learn more about Martin’s unique art, check out his website

We hope you enjoy the site and check back with us often. We will be adding new adult and family events, as well as, new updated information about our programs.

If you’re not a member, please consider it and take a few minutes to join us!
