Older towns and neighborhoods are important chapters in American history. Historic preservation is an effective tool that is used for: building public awareness, fostering local pride, revitalizing neighborhoods, and maintaining character while enhancing livability. We have a tremendous amount of history in Western Springs. We, as a community, have a responsibility to future generations to keep our community intact and this history alive. The challenge is to manage and balance change to the extent that it respects the character, context, environment and uniqueness that made our village so attractive and appealing in the first place.
