Donation Guide

The Western Springs Historical Society strives to preserve the village’s history for current and future generations. Many of the printed materials and artifacts in our collection have been donated by village residents and the Society appreciates their generosity.

Items in our collection include photos, newspaper articles, telephone books, maps, real estate listings, meeting minutes, letters and other printed materials related to the history of the village and its residents. The Society also has an extensive collection of artifacts (clothing, furniture, household goods, tools, toys, paintings/drawings, etc.), many of which are on display in the TowerMuseum or at Ekdahl House.

The Historical Society welcomes donations of artifacts relevant to the history of the Village.  If you have items that you would like to donate, please contact us at or call us at 708-246-9230. Due to space limitations, please be aware that all donations must be previewed by the Society prior to acceptance and donors are asked to download, fill in and sign a “Deed of Gift” for all items accepted by the Society.

Factors considered when evaluating a donation include the following:

  1. Is the item in question directly related to the Village or one of its residents?
  2. Is the item a new addition to the collection or does it duplicate an existing item?
  3. What condition is the item in?
  4. How large is the item?

As a general rule, the Historical Society does not accept long term loans or donations that come with riders. If you have questions concerning this policy, please contact the Archives Manager at 246-9230.

You can find a list of items that the Historical Society is currently searching for under our “Wanted” tab.
