Heritage Breakfast

In November, 2011 the Western Springs Historical Society hosted a Swedish Breakfast to celebrate the opening of the EkdahlHouseMuseum. Guests had the opportunity to view the museum from the plank walkway and steps (a recently completed Troop 12 Eagle Scout project), enjoy pastries and other refreshments, interact with “August Ekdahl” and “his wife” as interpreted by TWS actors Dave Bremer & Susan Cardamone, and listen to the winning entries in the WSHS’s “Why I Love Western Springs” essay contest. Guests at the event included August Ekdahl’s granddaughter Anna and other family members who live in Indiana but made the trip to Western Springs for the grand opening. The ribbon cutting was performed by Village Trustees Suzy Glowiak, Jim Horvath and Deb Lyons.
